CNIITMASH Celebrated Victory Day with a Rally
Monday, 07 May 2018

In the territory of JSC “RPA “CNIITMASH” (a company included in Atomenergomash, a machine-building division of Rosatom) a rally was held devoted to the 73rd anniversary of victory in the Second World War.

The event was held in the very heart of CNIITMASH: next to the monument to the Institute employees fallen fighting for the Motherland. The event was opened by Nadezhda Skvortsova, Chairman of the CNIITMASH Veterans Council. On behalf of the Institute management a solemn speech was delivered by the Deputy Director General for Science Konstantin Kosyrev.

“Victory Day is a great holiday that made possible our life today. The entire world says "World War II", and we say "Great Patriotic War", fully aware that if we did not come out victorious, we would not exist these days. Today in a number of countries there are attempts to rewrite history. They say that the role of the USSR was not so significant, they demolish monuments, and it makes us painful and sad, because the war affected every family, and the whole Europe was soaked in the blood of our soldiers. We hold sacred their memory and are deeply grateful to those who took part in the defense of our Motherland. I am glad that young people are present at the rally, as they must remember and continue to honor our history." In the final part of the speech, he thanked the veterans and wished them health, joy and peace in their families.

CNIITMASH employees, representatives of the Council of Young Specialists and veterans also participated in the event with celebratory speeches, words of gratitude, poems and songs. The students of school No. 1274 named after V.V. Mayakovski came to congratulate the veterans. They read poems about the war and laid flowers at the monument. The children from kindergarten No. 1321 took part in the gathering too: the kids cited poems about the war and presented the veterans with the flowers. At the end of the meeting, the employees and guests of the event offered a minute of silence in memory of those who had defended our Motherland at the front and behind the lines.

When the rally had finished, the veterans went to the Institute conference hall, where they were given presents by Deputy General Director for Business Operations Pavel Vedernikov on behalf of the CNIITMASH management. Then the lecture about Victory Day was delivered by the Deputy Chairman of the SEAD Council of Veterans, historian Timofey Shanygin. After the lecture, a concert of the CNIITMASH amateur talent groups began: within two hours the veterans sang, danced and shared memories of the war years. The holiday ended with a tea party, where both the veterans and the younger generation were invited.
